Waiting on Wednesday (107)

"Waiting on" Wednesday is a weekly meme to discuss upcoming books we can't wait to get our hands on. Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine

This week. I'm waiting on:

He's Gone by Deb Caletti
Release date: May 14, 2013

From National Book Award finalist Deb Caletti comes an intensely gripping story about love, loss, marriage, and secrets—perfect for readers of Jodi Picoult, Kristin Hannah, and Anna Quindlen.

“What do you think happened to your husband, Mrs. Keller?”
The Sunday morning starts like any other, aside from the slight hangover. Dani Keller wakes up on her Seattle houseboat, a headache building behind her eyes from the wine she drank at a party the night before. But on this particular Sunday morning, she’s surprised to see that her husband, Ian, is not home. As the hours pass, Dani fills her day with small things. But still, Ian does not return. Irritation shifts to worry, worry slides almost imperceptibly into panic. And then, like a relentless blackness, the terrible realization hits Dani: He’s gone.
As the police work methodically through all the logical explanations—he’s hurt, he’s run off, he’s been killed—Dani searches frantically for a clue as to whether Ian is in fact dead or alive. And, slowly, she unpacks their relationship, holding each moment up to the light: from its intense, adulterous beginning, to the grandeur of their new love, to the difficulties of forever. She examines all the sins she can—and cannot—remember. As the days pass, Dani will plumb the depths of her conscience, turning over and revealing the darkest of her secrets in order to discover the hard truth—about herself, her husband, and their lives together.

I think this sounds like a really good story and I'm excited to see how Deb Caletti does with her debut for adults. It doesn't hurt that it is being promoted for fans of Jodi Picoult or Kristin Hannah either.

  1. I hadn't heard of this one before but it does sound interesting. Thanks for sharing, oh and new follower (Frodosco - GFC)! ^.^ If you would like to check out my Waiting On Wednesday you can do so here. :)

  2. Very interested to read Caletti's writing for adults; I've felt she is a deeper, more literary writer than other YAs so the transition should be pretty smooth.

  3. I had no idea that she was writing an adult novel. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I have yet to read any of her YA books, but I really want to. I'll be adding this one to my TBR list. Great pick!

  4. I think I have another book I need to add to my TBR list!!! Thanks for spotlighting it and Happy Halloween!! Please check out my WoW!

  5. This sounds really good! The cover is gorgeous, too!

  6. oh wow I didn't know she had written a book for adults!

  7. Love Deb Caletti's YA books, and I SO want to read this!
