Teaser Tuesdays (9)

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly meme hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

Grab your current read

Open to a random page

Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page

BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)

Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

My teaser:

"I thought about those three girls, how wrong they'd been; there was no way Jenna could hurt anyone. But even as I laughed at her rapturous descriptions of pie, I felt a small shiver at the base of my spine, thinking about her eyes as she'd watched my blood drip to the carpet."

Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins
p. 62

I was reading The Off Season by Catherine Gilbert Murdock but I decided to put it aside till this Saturday's Dewey Readathon so I could read Hex Hall now. Plus I just couldn't wait any longer!

After a disastrous attempt to help a fellow student by using magic on prom night, Sophie Mercer is packed off to Hex Hall, a special reform school for Prodigium (faeries, shape shifters, witches like herself) who abuse their powers. Sophie quickly commits social suicide when she makes enemies of the three most popular (and powerful) girls at the school and it doesn't help that her roommate Jenna is a vampire believed to have killed another student. On top of that, there is a dangerous group out to destroy the Prodigium and students are being attacked. Sophie has to attend Hex Hall until she turns eighteen but will she survive that long?

This is actually quite a funny book so far even though the description is kind of dark. Sophie's attempt to help a female classmate get a date to prom is hilarious and there are plenty of humorous, snarky comments.

What's your book teaser this week? Please leave a comment. I'd love to know what great books you are reading!
