National Library Workers Day

Today is National Library Workers Day. To celebrate and honor some fantastic librarians I am going to highlight some great librarian blogs that I've been following.

GreenBean TeenQueen is a librarian who serves Teens and Tweens. I enjoy reading her blog where she reviews books and talks about the latest movies of interest to YAs as well as her thoughts on library related issues. One of my favorite posts is the one she wrote about her literary crushes. I also enjoyed her post on librarians in romance novels! GreenBean Teen Queen just celebrated her two year blogoversary a couple of weeks ago and she is currently holding a contest to celebrate. I hope you will stop by her blog and take a look around.

Naomi Bates is a school librarian and she is well known for her talent for creating book trailers. Her latest trailer is for By The Time You Read This, I'll Be Dead by Julie Ann Peters. My favorite is her trailer for The Dark Divine by Bree Despain. It is absolutely gorgeous. Naomi also reviews books and writes posts about school librarianship. If you are looking for a unique book blog with great media content, visit YA Books and More.

Sarah at YA Librarian Tales is a YA librarian who is relatively new to the profession. I love reading her reviews and she reads a lot of books. One of my favorite posts is her review of Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver. I also loved her review of Rules of Attraction by Simone Elkeles. Sarah just celebrated her one year blogoversary last week. I hope you will visit her blog and check out her awesome reviews.

The Serpentine Librarian is a librarian who works with children and teens. She is new to blogging (since December 2009) like me and I have really enjoyed her blog posts. Her blog is way more organized than mine and it recently got a great new background and button. One of my favorite posts is her review of The Lonely Hearts Club. After reading her review I immediately added it to my TBR list. She also does podcasts where she interviews authors like Carrie Ryan. I particularly enjoyed her review of The Dead Tossed Waves.

Tammy at Mug of Moxie is a librarian who loves YA books. I enjoy how her personality comes through in her writing. One of my favorite reviews is her review of The Chosen One by Carol Lynch Williams. Tammy is currently celebrating her blogoversary with a giveaway. Be sure to stop by and check it out.

Emily, the Ninja Librarian, has a truly beautiful YA book blog. I really enjoy reading her reviews of books like Secrets of Truth and Beauty by Megan Frazer or Dirty Little Secrets by C.J. Omolulu, which I decided to read after reading her review.  Emily also has a neat feature on her blog where she lists hot new titles that are being published. I hope you will visit the Ninja Librarian.

Kristen at Bookworming in the 21st Century is an elementary school library media specialist. She has a very creative book blog that is devoted to reviews of YA and middle grade fiction. Kristen has a lot of fantastic features on her blog, including Spotlight where she interviews other book bloggers. Currently Kristen is featuring librarians on her blog in celebration of National Library Week. One of her best blog posts is Librarians and Why They Rock.

These are all amazing blogs by librarians and I hope you will take the time to visit and show them some appreciation on National Library Workers Day!

If you have a favorite librarian blog that you follow, or if you are a librarian yourself, please be sure to leave a comment. I'm always looking for new blogs to follow and I like to support my fellow librarians.

  2. This is such an awesome post! Thank you for including my blog. I love visiting and reading both Ninja Librarian and GreenBeanTeenQueen. Their blogs are so informative and they both write great reviews. I haven't come across the others, but I will have to go check them out. Thanks for celebrating National Library Week and spreading the word about blogging librarians :)

  3. Great post! I'm already following The Ninja Librarian, but I'll have to check out the other blogs you mentioned. It's nice to read reviews from the point of view of a librarian, who is obviously constantly exposed to books.

Thanks for listing me among these other awesome blogs. I love all of them (and yours too, obvs). This was a wonderful idea and it reminds me that I need to write a Library Workers Day post. So thanks for that too!
