My pick this week:
Anastasia's Secret
By Susanne Dunlap
Publication date: March 2, 2010
Description from author's website:
"The youngest grand duchess in the Russian imperial family comes of age during the revolution. Her family is imprisoned, conditions become worse and worse. But Anastasia has a secret that she keeps from her family, a love that endures through the horrors of war and the privation of imprisonment and deprivation. Will her love save her from the fate her family seems destined for? Or is she a creation of a rarefied atmosphere, unable to survive without her loved ones?"
I have been fascinated with the story of Anastasia since I was a teen studying about the Russian Revolution in history class. I remember the picture in my history textbook of young Anastasia with her siblings and parents and how sad I felt when I found out their fate. Needless to say I am excited about this new novel by Susanne Dunlap. I loved The Musician's Daughter, her other YA novel so I have high hopes for Anastasia's Secret. I am not sure what angle the author will take with the story but I am sure that I will like it. Find out more about Anastasia at Anastasia Lives, a blog created by Susanne Dunlap.
