Books read:
The Girl Who Chased the Moon by Sarah Addison Allen
I've been wanting to read this book for awhile so I finally got around to it over my Christmas vacation. I liked it more than Garden Spells. Now I just need to read The Sugar Queen.
Suite Scarlett by Maureen Johnson
I've had Suite Scarlett on my TBR pile for a few years so I was happy to finally make time to read it this past week. I liked the quirky characters, especially the Martin family. Not sure if I will read the sequel yet.
Cinders and Sapphires by Leila Rasheed
This book won't be published till January but I was fortunate enough to get an e-ARC. I was worried that I wouldn't like it but it was pretty good and I liked the Downton Abbey vibe.
Insurgent by Veronica Roth
I am so glad I was able to finish this book before the end of the year. I loved Divergent and thought Insurgent was a good sequel. There were definitely some surprises I didn't see coming. Can't wait for book 3!

What I plan to read next:
Etiquette and Espionage by Gail Carriger
So far, this is the book I plan to read first in 2013. I loved the Parasol Protectorate series and look forward to seeing what Gail Carriger does with her YA debut.
Scent of Magic by Maria V. Snyder
I am debating rereading Touch of Power before I tackle this book as I don't remember some of the details that might be important.
Vessel by Sarah Beth Durst
After seeing this on a number of "Best of 2012" lists, I was reminded that I still need to read Vessel. I hope to read it sometime in January.
Star Wars: Scoundrels by Timothy Zahn
I think this sounds like a fun book with some favorite Star Wars characters. I don't want to get to the heavier reading I have planned till February maybe...

Great choices! I'm excited about Etiquette & Espionage too. I'll have to wait until it's released though for my pre-order to arrive. I loved Vessel and Scent of Magic. I have Divergent on my currently reading stack (along with 10 other books) and hope to finally get to it in January. Have a great reading week!
ReplyDeleteLast Monday of 2012, wow hasn't the year flown! I really liked Garden Spells and I have The Girl Who Chased the Moon on my bookshelf so I must pick it up next year lol. Divergent & Insurgent made my 2012 favourite reads list, can't wait for the last book! I enjoyed Touch of Power more than Scent of Magic so I'm keen to see what you think.

I've heard that Cinders and Sapphires has a Downton Abbey feel so I'm really excited to get to it. I'm hoping to finish The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight tonight to make my goal of 300 books read for the year and will be starting 2013 with What We Saw at Night and Exposure (Twisted Lit #2).
ReplyDeleteI read my first Sarah Addison Allen book a few summers ago and loved it. I have been meaning to read more of her work. I also read Cinders and Sapphires. I thought it was just okay. I was hoping to like it more. Can't wait to hear your thoughts. (Speaking of Downton Abbey- can't wait for season three!!). I also want to read Etiquette and Espionage....hopefully I can get my hands on a copy in 2013. Happy New Year!
