It's Monday, What Are You Reading is a fun weekly meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey where we share what we've read and reviewed over the past week and what we plan to read next.
I can't believe that December is here already! This year just flew by! I have a list of books I'd hoped to read this year that I don't think I will get to in just one month. With the holidays, I don't think I'll have as much time to read this month either. At least I've finished most of my reading challenges for the year.
Books read:
Keeping Faith by Jodi Picoult
I was disappointed with this book and my book group members felt the same way. We thought the book had promise but didn't quite deliver. I felt bad because this was their first Jodi Picoult book and it didn't live up to her better works like My Sister's Keeper or Nineteen Minutes. They are planning to try some of her other books anyway.
Matched by Ally Condie (reread)
I am glad I reread this book and I found that I appreciated it just as much as the first time I picked it up.
Books reviewed:
The Shadowy Horses by Susanna Kearsley
Currently reading:
Crossed by Ally Condie (reread)
I hope I will like Crossed more this time as I reread it. I can't really remember what happens so it will almost be like reading the book for the first time :)
What I plan to read next:
Reached by Ally Condie
I am so excited to read the conclusion to this series. I hope it lives up to my expectations!
The Fire Chronicle by John Stephens
I am looking forward to this sequel to The Emerald Atlas. It seems to promise adventure and magic.
The Walnut Tree by Charles Todd
This is a historical romance set during WWI and details what it was like to be a nurse during that time too. I have high hopes that I will love it!
That's what I'm planning to read this week.
What have you been reading lately?
The Walnut Tree looks amazing! I think I need to put it on my ever-growing To Read list. Thanks for the update on the Picoult book. I enjoyed My Sister's Keeper and my book group read The Choice but I haven't checked out any of her books since. I hope you have a wonderful week!

It is hard to believe that December is here already. I hope Reached lives up to expectations too.
ReplyDeleteThe Walnut Tree sounds so good, I love that time period :) I hope that Reached lives up to your expectations.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week of reading!
My reading has been slow the last week or two with so much on. I cannot believe it's only 3 and a bit weeks til Christmas ... eek so much to do!
ReplyDeleteIs The Walnut Tree part of a series? I'm anal about reading in order but I'd love to read this one, being a former nurse.
Have wonderful week and happy reading :)
I haven't read that one by ,Jodi Picoult but have always loved her other books. I SO want to read the Matched, Crossed, and Reached trilogy. I have the 1st one on my bookshelf, but don't want to read it until I get my hands on the other 2. :)

I feel like I have read Shadowy Horses before. I will have to read it, it certainly sounds good!
ReplyDeleteThe Walnut Tree sounds really good too. Have a great week!
The Walnut Tree sounds similar to a book I recently read called In Falling Snow. I really enjoyed that so I will have to look for this one and compare :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great reading week!

I have got to read something by Susanna Kearsley! Everyone tells me her books are great but somehow I haven't managed to pick one up yet. I am definitely adding The Walnut Tree to my TBR. It does sound wonderful. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI hope Reached lives up to your expectations too! Crossed kind of let me down and unsure if I want to pick up Reached although I do enjoy finishing series...so we'll see.
ReplyDeleteSorry Keeping Faith wasn't strong enough-hope the other members will pick up My Sister's Keeper. I remember crying so hard after reading that.
The Walnut Tree looks really good, I love anything set during WW1. Hope you enjoy it and I'll look forward to hearing your thoughts on it. I've never read a Jodi Picoult book although everyone says what a good writer she is. I might have to give My Sister's Keeper a go soon.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely week. :-)
Jodi Picoult's books generally make me sad so I've stopped reading her books. The Walnut Tree sounds good.
ReplyDeleteThe Walnut Tree sounds really good...I love stories set during WWI. This is definitely going on my list!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!

Can't wait to hear your thoughts on Reached. I love Matched, but Crossed was a bit disappointing for me. I hope Reached is a good conclusion! I'll keep my eye out for your review.
ReplyDeleteOverall I am disappointed with JodiP and said I will only read Nineteen Minutes but i'm done with trying. Sisters Keeper was amazing though.
ReplyDeleteThis year has gotten away from me too! I just don't know where it went, lol. I feel like I've made some positive changes this year, so I guess I was working on all that?
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your reading, I don't think I'll get as much done this month either, things are always so busy with the holiday season.
you have several I want to read, those reached books, not sure what the series is called, but I have them on my TBR list.
ReplyDeleteHope your enjoying all the books.
It’s Monday! What are You Reading?
I came back this week to see what your reading group thought of the Jodi Picoult book. My reading group really liked it but I just couldn't make it work for me :/ I need to come to your book group :)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful reading week! Whatcha readin' this week @ the Brunette Librarian :)
