It's (Not Quite) Monday, What Are You Reading (64)

It's Monday What Are You Reading? is a fun weekly meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey. I always enjoy seeing what other people have read and reviewed over the past week. It is also a great way to find new books to add to that ever-growing TBR list!

This past week I only managed to finish two books but I really enjoyed both of them. This week I hope I will do a little better with my reading list.

Books finished:

Sideways on a Scooter by Miranda Kennedy

I really liked this book and read it in just a couple of days. I normally take weeks to get through nonfiction books.

The Help by Kathryn Stockett

I loved The Help and I'm glad I was finally able to read it. I was waiting to read it when the waiting lists at the library weren't so long but its popularity has never let up. I ended up buying it last month when it was released in paperback. So glad I did! Now I can't wait to watch the movie.

Books reviewed:
Clarity by Kim Harrington

Wrapped by Jennifer Bradbury

Currently reading:

Starcrossed by Josephine Angelini

This book started out well. Then I wanted to put it down because I was becoming very annoyed by the main character and some other things. Thankfully it has started to get better again. I love Greek mythology and this story has an interesting premise.

Silent in the Sanctuary by Deanna Raybourn

Oh, how I love this series (so far anyway).

What I plan to read next:

The Shadowy Horses by Susanna Kearsley

Really looking forward to this one!
My Name is Mary Sutter by Robin Oliveira
I won this last year from The Lost Entwife and I am finally going to read it. I have the hardcover but think this paperback cover is so much prettier.

Babe in Boyland by Jody Gehrman

This may end up being just a book version of She's the Man but it still looks like a fun story and a good way to break up the heavier books.

A Cup of Friendship by Deborah Rodriguez

I have heard such good things about this book. My sister read Kabul Beauty School and I thought she'd liked it (one of the reasons I decided to read A Cup of Friendship) but it turns out I was wrong. Hopefully I will like this book anyway.

That's what I plan to read this week (subject to change according to whim and boredom).

What are you reading this week?

  4. New follower!

Glad to see another Deanna Raybourn fan in the blogosphere. :) There are probably more that I haven't discovered yet, obviously, although I'm just as probably the only male blogger who reads her.

    Here's my week:

  5. The Help is on my wishlist. I'll get to it later this year or early next.

I finished ten books this week which actually surprises me because I hardly did any reading during my usual fun reading time. Come see what I finished.

  10. So glad you loved The Help, I'm looking forward to the movie too, although I think we have to wait a few extra weeks for it here in Australia. I like Greek mythology so I'll be interested to see your final thoughts on Starcrossed.
