Friday Finds (7)

Friday Finds are books that you've heard about during the past week. Friday Finds is hosted by Miz B of Should Be Reading.

My finds this week:

The Other Mr. Darcy by Monica Fairview (Lost Entwife)

This is a Pride and Prejudice spinoff featuring an American cousin of Mr. Darcy who visits England and meets Caroline Bingley who is brokenhearted over Mr. Darcy's marriage. A P&P sequel featuring Caroline Bingley as a heroine sounds like a must read for me! Thanks to The Lost Entwife for this find.

After the Kiss by Terra Elan McVoy

Becca has been head-over-heels for Alec from the instant they met. He's a brainy jock with a poet's heart—in other words, perfect for her. Camille is careful with her words and protective of her heart, especially since Chicago. Then a new boy in her new town catches her off guard with a surprise kiss. Too bad that new boy is Becca's boyfriend, Alec. Camille and Becca have never met, but their lives will unravel and intertwine in surprising ways as they deal with what happens after the kiss.

This sounds like a fantastic YA novel. Thanks to Princess Bookie for this find!

Anxious Hearts by Tucker Shaw (Confessions of a Book Addict)

This is a retelling of Evangeline, a poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Over 100 years ago in Maine, a wedding did not take place because of an attack on the village and the young couple, Gabriel and Evangeline were separated. Evangeline tells the story of Gabriel and Evangeline and two modern day teens Gabe and Eva. This sounds like such a beautiful and romantic story. I can't wait till it is published. Thanks to Confessions of a Book Addict for this find!

Heartless by Anne Elisabeth Stengl (Rebecca's Book Blog)

Princess Una of Parumvir has come of age and will soon be married. She dreams of a handsome and charming prince, but when the first suitor arrives, she finds him stodgy and boring. Prince Aethelbald from the mysterious land of Farthestshore has traveled far to prove his love--and also to bring hushed warnings of danger. A dragon is rumored to be approaching Parumvir. Una, smitten instead with a more dashing prince, refuses Aethelbald's offer--and ignores his warnings. Soon the Dragon King himself is in Parumvir, and Una, in giving her heart away unwisely, finds herself in grave danger. Only those courageous enough to risk everything have a hope of fighting off this advancing evil.

This title intrigues me because it is a YA fantasy being published by a Christian publishing house so I am curious about what the author will do with the story. Plus the cover is just beautiful! Thanks to Rebecca's Book Blog for this find.

Crossing Oceans by Gina Holmes

Jenny Lucas swore she'd never return to her North Carolina hometown---until she learns she's dying. Arriving with her 5-year-old daughter, Isabella, she must face her frail grandmother, emotionally distant father, and David, her former love who doesn't know he has a child. Can she navigate the rough waters of her new reality and find safe harbor?

This looks like it could be a very moving novel even though it is a familiar premise.

These are my Friday Finds. What interesting books did you find this week?

  6. I love to collect Austen-one-offs but I'm so worried of being disappointed, I rarely read them. The Other Mr. Darcy sounds intriguing though.
