It's Monday, What Are You Reading (81)

It's Monday, What Are You Reading is a fun weekly meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey where we share what we've read and reviewed over the past week and what we plan to read next.

This week I only managed to finish one book and write one review. Life just got in the way! I had a very successful first book discussion at the library with 14 at the afternoon group and 7 at the evening group. It was a tiring day for me but the discussion of Girl in Translation was fantastic. I also am behind in my readers' advisory class assignments and have one more week to go.

This week I have an all day seminar on books which should be fun. Victoria Brown, author of Minding Ben will be there as will Christina Grand Porter (author of Little Women and Werewolves) and I hope to learn a lot about readers' advisory and library blogging. I also hope I will get caught up on my assignments and find time to read and write more reviews!

Books read:

Crossed by Ally Condie

I liked this sequel to Matched though I do wish I'd reread Matched first before tackling this. I couldn't remember some of the details. Crossed is good but I liked Matched more.

Books reviewed:

Shadows on the Moon by Zoe Marriott

Currently reading:

Dearly, Departed by Lia Habel

I am about halfway through Dearly, Departed. I had to set it aside to read Crossed for an ARC tour. I am surprised by how much I like this book. It is definitely more than a "zombie romance".

What I plan to read next:

Cleopatra's Moon by Vicky Alvear Shecter

I hope I will get the chance to finish Cleopatra's Moon this week. It is just a little overdue at the library...

What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty

I am curious about this book. The premise reminds me of Remember Me by Sophie Kinsella but a more serious take on the amnesia/forgotten life issue.

Jerusalem Maiden by Talia Carner

I have heard that this is amazing from one of my coworkers. It also received excellent reviews so I'm excited to read it and hope I will get to it soon!

Bellfield Hall by Anna Dean

This sounds like a good historical mystery. Maybe it will be like Deanna Raybourn's Lady Julia Grey series. Either way, it was recommended by another librarian and I'm sure I'll like it.

So that's what I'm planning to read this week.
What about you?

  2. Hmm, I guess I should reread Matched before Crossed releases? I've already forgotten half of the book anyway ;)

Can't wait to read your review of Dearly, Departed! I'm so curious about it :)

  8. Oooo, all I had to see was a mention of Julia Grey and I am so looking that book up! Thanks for pointing it out, even if it's not as good as Deanna Raybourn, I bet it'll still be lovely :)
