In My Mailbox (64)

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by The Story Siren to share what books you received for review, purchased, or checked out from the library during the past week.

For review:

Kiss Crush Collide by Christina Meredith

I've already started reading this and I have to admit that so far I don't like it as much as I thought I would. It is hard to enjoy a book with a protagonist that is hard to like and a romance that is not believable. I received this as part of an ARC tour from Around the World Tours so I will persevere and finish it!

This book sounds like it would make a good movie (the synopsis reminds me of romantic comedy films like Serendipity). Hopefully I will enjoy it. I received this ARC for review from the publisher.

The Queen of Kentucky by Alecia Whitaker

This sounds like another funny book maybe similar to Ten Miles Past Normal. The main character is a country girl who wants to be popular but forgets who she truly is in the process. I also received this ARC for review from the publisher.

Purchased:

The Son of Neptune by Rick Riordan

I have been waiting for this for a long time so I was excited to receive The Son of Neptune this week. I want to read it soon. The first chapter was pretty funny with Medusa's crazy sisters chasing after Percy.

Minding Ben by Victoria Brown

This was an impulse buy that I picked up at a library conference. I had the opportunity to hear Victoria Brown speak about her book and her experience as a young immigrant and nanny and it sounded so fascinating that I had to buy a copy and get it signed.

Girl in the Arena by Lise Haines

I have been curious about this book for some time. When I heard that it was on sale for Kindle I decided to buy it-a decision I hope I won't regret!

Boneshaker by Cherie Priest

I've heard that this is an excellent steampunk series. Boneshaker is also on sale for Kindle so I bought it though I have plenty of books to read already. :)

The Eye of the World by Robert Jordan

This is the first book in a really popular fantasy series and since I am interested in reading more fantasy novels I also bought The Eye of the World from the monthly Kindle sale.

The Hangman's Daughter by Oliver Potzsch

The Kindle Daily Deal is proving dangerous to my wallet! I have heard excellent things about this book so of course I bought it too!

Tune in next week to see what other books I will be buying. In my sights right now: Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder and Wizard's First Rule by Terry Goodkind

  10. I'm sad that Kiss Crush Collide isn't as good as it sounds to be. I had high hopes after I heard it being compared to Perfect Chemistry. Crossing my fingers it gets better for you! I also am really excited to see what you think of The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight. I also thing it could be made into a really cute romantic comedy. I'm hooked already on the English accent =)
