I can't believe it is Labor Day weekend already. The summer went by too fast! At least the weather is still nice and summery. I'm not looking forward to sweater weather. I had planned to do some much needed cleaning this weekend but my plans changed when I woke up yesterday with pain in my left side. I am currently moving like an old lady when I move at all. Not sure if I pulled a muscle or if it is something else so I'll probably be going to the doctor on Tuesday. This is the third time this year I've had pain in the exact same place :(
On the brighter side some things are coming together at work. A friend of mine is going to be joining my department which I'm very happy about and she is helping me with the Pinterest craft night. We also have some more people signed up for that including a man (See I knew men liked to craft! ) who is attending with his wife and they are apparently really looking forward to it. We will be making those DIY Sharpie paint decorated mugs and dipping artificial leaves in glitter and hanging them in picture frames.
I am looking forward to watching Arthur and George tonight on PBS. I haven't read the book but it sounds really interesting and is based on the true story of Arthur Conan Doyle solving a crime. I also am counting down the days till Season 6 of Downton Abbey and looking for any new hints about the season. In the meantime the PBS shop had a sale on Downton Abbey merchandise so I bought three of the Downton Abbey themed teas to try (Mrs. Patmore's Pudding, Crawley Sisters Tea and Holiday Cheer). The only one I've tried so far is the Crawley Sisters Tea which tastes like chocolate and strawberries. Not exactly what I'd picture for a tea with Lady Mary and Lady Edith on the cover considering that they don't get along!

Through Deep Waters by Sarah Sundin
Unlike Sarah Sundin's other Christian fiction, this novel also included a mystery to be solved. Set during the early 40s before the U.S. entered WWII, someone has been committing sabotage at the Boston Navy shipyard and secretary Mary Stirling starts taking notes to figure out who it is with the help of Ensign Jim Avery. I liked the novel and the added mystery element.

After You by Jojo Moyes
This sequel to Me Before You doesn't have the same emotional punch as the first book but I still like it.
What I plan to read next:
Walk on Earth a Stranger by Rae Carson
So far every review I've seen of this book is positive. One reviewer said it is very different from The Girl of Fire and Thorns and that it does read like historical fiction. I can't wait to read it!

The Glass Kitchen by Linda Francis Lee
The premise of this book reminds me of Sarah Addison Allen's novels which I really like so hopefully I will enjoy The Glass Kitchen too. Plus the cover is pretty.

I loved The Glass Kitchen, tis a little like SAA. I also got the Beatriz Williams book from NetGalley, so that looks like quite a few connections!

ReplyDeleteOh that pain doesn't sound good, I hope the Doctor sheds some light on it. Sending positive thoughts. So glad the pinterest craft night is getting support, it sound slike fun, wish I could come. Time is flying way too fast, I hope there's still some good weather in store for you. Our Spring weather has been gorgeous but I have a feeling summer is going to be a scorcher!

I hope your back gets better soon. Back pain is the worst. Good luck with your library event. It sounds like so much fun! I just started Walk on Earth a Stranger and I am really enjoying it. In fact, I put down what I was currently reading (A Curious Beginning) b/c I couldn't wait any longer! Have a great Labor Day!

I made those sharpie mugs for my book club friends last year! It was fun - I found Emily Dickinson poetry quotes for each of them and that is what I used to decorate the mugs with. It was fun!
