Teaser Tuesdays (70)

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly meme hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

Grab your current read
Open to a random page

Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page

BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)

Share the title and author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

My teasers this week:

"I'm sitting at the dinner table, wearing my future mother-in-law's underwear. It's like some twisted dream that you wake up from and think: Crikey Moses! Thank God that didn't really happen!"

Note to readers: By underwear, Poppy is referring to a camisole (not underpants!) that she thought her fiance had bought her. It turned out to be a birthday gift from Mr. Tavish to his wife.

I've Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella
p. 91 (ARC)

Description from Goodreads:

I've lost it. The only thing in the world I wasn't supposed to lose. My engagement ring. It's been in Magnus's family for three generations. And now, the very same day his parents are coming, I've lost it. The very same day. Do not hyperventilate Poppy. Stay positive!!

Poppy Wyatt has never felt luckier. She is about to marry the ideal man, Magnus Tavish, but in one afternoon her 'happy ever after' begins to fall apart. Not only has she lost her engagement ring but in the panic that followed, she has now lost her phone. As she paces shakily round the hotel foyer she spots an abandoned phone in a bin. Finders keepers! Now she can leave a number for the hotel to contact her when they find her ring. Perfect!

Well, perfect except the phone's owner, businessman Sam Roxton doesn't agree. He wants his phone back and doesn't appreciate Poppy reading all his messages and wading into his personal life.

What ensues is a hilarious and unpredictable turn of events as Poppy and Sam increasingly upend each other's lives through emails and text messages. As Poppy juggles wedding preparations, mysterious phone calls and hiding her left hand from Magnus and his parents... she soon realises that she is in for the biggest surprise of her life.

I actually finished this book late last night and I thought it was fantastic-probably my favorite of her non-Becky Bloomwood books. It certainly was entertaining and made me laugh out loud.

  4. I can't wait to read this! Sophie Kinsella is my fail-safe author and I know I'll love every one of her books without even knowing what it's about.

It sounds just as funny as the rest and now I can't wait for the 16th February! Thanks for the teaser :)

  6. Sophie Kinsella is such a fun author - I will have to keep my eye out for this one. I didn't know she had a new one coming out. This one seems like the perfect beach read!

  7. Jealous! I really enjoy Sophia Kinsella. I just finished The Future of Us, and despite some mixed feelings along the way, I decided that I liked it. The critics make some valid points, but in the end, it's a redemption tale, and you have to have flaws if you are going to have change.
