It's Monday, What Are You Reading (106)

It's Monday, What Are You Reading is a fun weekly meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey where we share what we've read and reviewed over the past week and what we plan to read next.

Books read:

Wentworth Hall by Abby Grahame

While I liked this book, I definitely thought it could have been better. The characters needed more development and the ending was rushed.

Spring Fever by Mary Kay Andrews

I think this might be my favorite of her books so far. It is a great beach read though I was sadly nowhere near the beach when I read it :)

Books reviewed:

Slide by Jill Hathaway

Currently reading:

Little Bee by Chris Cleave

What I plan to read next:

A Night Like This by Julia Quinn

This book will be released on Tuesday and you can be sure that I will be buying a copy! I read an excerpt and I have a feeling I will really enjoy A Night Like This. More Smythe-Smith musicales :)

A Teeny Bit of Trouble by Michael Lee West

I love this book cover even without the red velvet cupcakes. Gone With a Handsomer Man was a fun mystery and I hope this sequel will be too.

Throne of Glass by Sarah Maas

Not sure if I will like Throne of Glass but it sounds interesting enough to give it a try. I have to say that so far I'm not too impressed with the heroine after reading the first prequel novella, The Assassin and the Pirate Lord.  Aside from the horrible title, I thought she was incredibly arrogant for most of the novella and only towards the end did I start to like her for risking her life to save the slaves. Hopefully she will be much less arrogant in Throne of Glass!

  1. Did not realize that Throne of Glass was having three novellas; I would definitely read them if they were free but now I am waiting for some blogger reviews to let me know if it's worth my money. I am highly anticipating Throne of Glass though even if I don't give the novellas a try.

I had a chance to read A Night Like This and can confirm that there is a lot of the Quinn humor-I smiled through most of it. However it is also a love at first sight book...just fyi. For me Quinn always makes me buy into her love stories so it didn't really bother me but I know it has bothered some people.

  2. Disappointing Wentworth Hall wasn't as good as it could have been but looks like you had a win with Spring Fever. I love the cute cover of A Teeny Bit Of Trouble LOL.
Have a wonderful week and happy reading :)

  12. I've read a few Mary Kay Andrews books and find them to be great, fun reads - definitely good beach reads! I'll have to see if my library has Spring Fever!

I read Little Bee last year for my book club and loved it. Have you read anything else by Chris Cleve - I really want to read Incendiary and I heard there's a new book coming out, Gold, in July.

    Have a great week!
