I also enjoyed how Maddie blossomed in Scotland and her new friendships were definitely one of my favorite aspects of the story. She's great with imagery and descriptions! I loved Water for Elephants and the atmosphere that offered. I can imagine why you enjoyed the setting for this one too if it's any similar.
